The committee will suggest to city counsel on Monday, February 8th, that the fees portion of the ordinance be removed. Council will then allow for discussion and possibly a vote whether to remove the fees. Even with the fees removed the ordinance stands in full force, allowing the fire department to conduct inspections, as directed by the State of Ohio, and issue citations solely upon the discretion of the inspector. No guidelines have been issued for those who do not comply. Again, the discretion of the inspector as to provide assistance or not, the amount of time given to comply, or to immediately issue a citation.
