In summary:
The City will accept the counter proposal offered by legal counsil representing the townships. The offer extends the fire & EMS contracts til December 31, 2011. The townships agree to pay an 18% increase for the 2011 contract year. A new contract will need to be negotiated for multiple years thereafter and should be done very early in 2011, since it took almost 7 months to get to this point. A levy will more than likely need to be placed on most township's ballots for the November 2011 election. The offer was accepted by a 5-2 vote, with Rod Daniels and Mary Brown Turner voting "no".
